High Tea Buffet at Palazzo Versace
There aren’t many reasons that I would traipse the hour down to the gold coast during the week-before-christmas rush.
However, the High Tea Buffet featured at Il Barocco Restaurant at the opulent Palazzo Versace may just be one of them.
If you haven’t been inside, or even driven past the Palazzo Versace, I highly recommend you do. A little bit of (faux) European decadence on the Gold Coast, with enough chandeliers, columns, glass windows, and polished marble flooring to make even Julius Cesar happy.
My mother, sister and I headed there for a ladies High Tea, an event that we’d been looking forward to since we gifted it to my mother for her birthday, back in October. Dressed to the nines and with very un-ladylike grumbly bellies, we parked nearby at the Marina Mirage and headed over to the grand hotel.
We stopped and took in the main entry way to the hotel for a few brief minutes. I was enamoured by the gigantic christmas tree – even more so when I realised that it was entirely made up from Teddy Bears! The huge gingerbread house made me salivate even more than I already was, so we promptly turned left and headed into the Il Barocco restaurant. The hotel lobby overlooks the bright and airy central hotel pool, and we were sat in full glorious view of the sunshine and water.
The Palazzo Versace offers two very different styles of High Tea. You can dine in at the casual Le Jardin restaurant, with your classic high tea fare of finger foods on pretty tiered plates, or you can head over to Il Barocco on a Saturday between 11am and 5pm for the amazing High Tea Buffet.
Featuring a selection of nibbles including sweet and savoury delights, the buffet boasts antipasti, sushi, finger sandwiches, quiches, savoury croissants, mini cheesecakes, cupcakes, slices, and fruit. The amazing spread also includes freshly made waffles, savoury pastries, jam donuts, and serve yourself ice cream.
You get complimentary coffees, teas, and water, and if your heart so desires you can order a glass or two of sparkling for a little bit extra.
If you’re feeling a little bit fancy, you can take some macaroons or a delicious skewer covered in Chocolate from the fountain.
We filled ourselves to the brim, and headed home looking forward to a well-deserve nap. Definitely didn’t need any dinner!
