The Wedding of Bec and Daley

The Wedding of Bec and Daley

The Wedding of Bec and Daley

On Friday night, Ryan and I went to the wedding of our friends, Bec and Daley.

I love a good wedding. Every time I go to one it makes me sad that I can’t get to experience mine all over again. At the same time, it gives me a little happy feeling to sit next to my own husband and watch someone go through the same rollercoaster of joy that we went through.

Finishing work at 2pm for a 3.30pm wedding meant that we were rushed the whole afternoon to get ourselves ready for the event. I raced home, threw on some makeup, pinned up my hair and we arrived at the venue just in time.

We walked in the door and my breath caught. My heart skipped a beat. It was absolutely breathtaking.

Bec and Daley had chosen a venue called Lightspace, in Fortitude Valley, to host their ceremony, canapé’s and reception. If you are in Brisbane and looking for a versatile, central location to have your wedding, I can’t recommend it enough. From a guest’s point of view, it was the perfect location – an old, renovated warehouse, private, yet professionally outfitted enough to make everyone comfortable.

Soon it was time for the Bec to walk down the aisle, and she and her dad were grinning from ear to ear as she made her way towards Daley. I’ll say it again, I love weddings! Seeing the happiness on the Bride and Groom’s faces as they finally see each other at the altar is just beautiful. Bec and Daley have been together for about the same amount of time as Ryan and I (nearly a decade!) and it was so nice to see such a loving couple celebrate their commitment to each other in front of friends and families.

Bridal Party

There are two separate areas at Lightspace for events – the ceremony was held in a chameleon of a room, which they then rearranged completely to sit the guests for the reception part of the evening. We headed across the entryway to the bar and had nibblies and drinks while the bridal party had their photos, and when we returned we were greeted by a banquet style hall ready for eating, conversation and dancing! Magic!

The night went on as all good weddings should, with amazing food, abundant drinks, and touching speeches. The photobooth was the perfect catalyst for the guests to unleash their inner party animal (or cowboy, or princess, you get the idea!) and the dancing began with a beautiful father daughter dance, followed by a choreographed Keith Urban hit, performed by the Bride, Groom AND groomsmen and bridesmaids! Needless to say we soon danced our shoes off (some of us literally) and let loose.

I would like to say thank you, Bec and Daley, for letting us be a part of your amazing night. I hope you both enjoy your honeymoon in Hawaii and wish you the best of luck for your future as Husband and Wife!
